These three portraits are reflections of my feelings towards the inhumane, violent events that took place in 2015 and 2016 around the world, especially in Turkey. The works shaped after the October 2015 bombing in Ankara where 109 people died and more than 500 people were injured. In these thread on canvas works, I strengthen the fragility of the weak thread by stitching it persistently between points. Strings bond to each other. I stitch my state of mind and reactions, tightly overlapping until the needle cannot go through. The resulting tension makes the portraits exist at the last moment before being torn. Apart from that, what I have observed is that usually together with the work itself the labor on it is noticed and appreciated. This feeling is also contributing to the effect I want to give. It makes people perceive the works from the patience and desire perspective as well.
