'Non-eye centric drawings series' (pen, pencil, marker, pastel, ink on paper or canvas - variable dimensions)

I do these paintings with my eyes closed. I collaborate with people around me, they become my eyes during the process. I look at their expressions to see the painting and ask people to initiate, choose, decide and guide the paintings and tell me when it ends. I never see the work while doing it and continue painting until someone says that it is done. Working with the guidance of others, results in works that show the aesthetics and decisions of my collaborators. We constantly collaborate with each other, even when we are not aware.
Opening and sharing the process of eyes closed paintings makes me free from the form and the power of my eyes, and helps me to trust people. With confidence, I act by not knowing.
Images and colors are randomly accumulating on paintings. When the colors and forms coincidentally come together on the surface, every image intervenes with the previous image or color, and makes the previous image independent. I choose colors randomly unless someone suggests that I use a specific one. I don’t determine the size of the drawing or the story/images on it unless there are any other suggestions.

This is a 12 days of a drawing performance (between 16-24 September 2021, 12pm-6pm) as part of “From Seeing to Acting” group exhibition curated by Radical Reversibility at Looiersgracht 60 Amsterdam. As part of my “Non-eye centric” works, I was invited to make a live drawing performance. And take the suggestions and guidance of the visitors to drive the drawing. Below is my notes after the performance ended:
“On Saturday the drawing was finalized as suggested by Taco Hidde. It has been made with many visitors' suggestions, “the unexpected co-authorships” of three students from Utrecht School of Art and also an agreed co-authorship with Xiangbilin Ji from St. Joost School of Art & Design.
I received lots of suggestions and guidance. For instance, at the beginning Martine Stig made me start with an orange pastel. Later, Mariel Williams told me that while I was taking a break a student drew a cross, a cube and lines on the drawing. As I cannot look at it, I video called Defne Tesal and showed her the drawing. She recommended that I turn the cross into a kite. After a while Ahu Akgun suggested that I turn the kite into a cube. One of the artists of the exhibition Spiros Hadjidjanos suggested on a video call to draw something I remember from the basement of the exhibition on the right side of the drawing. So I drew a fighter jet which I had experienced in Peter Bogers’ “Glued Eye”. Frank van der Stok conduced toward new encounters, opened up paths with his agile moves and contributed to the development of the work.
In the past I was not looking at my drawings even if someone said they are finished. Noud Heerkens asked why my approach had changed, I’ll email him about it. I received a couple of suggestions about depth and shapes from Hiryczuk van Oevelen but couldn't make them all. Their suggestions will also shape the next drawings.
At the end lots of images, stories, characters and memories accumulated on the surface of the paper with the suggestions of many other people whose name I did not mention.”
